About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Tool Maker to join our manufacturing team. In this critical role, you will be responsible for designing, fabricating, repairing, and maintaining precision tools, dies, jigs, fixtures, and gauges used in our production processes. The ideal candidate brings a strong technical background in machining and tool engineering, with a keen eye for precision and quality. This position plays a vital role in ensuring our manufacturing operations run efficiently, safely, and to the highest standards of accuracy. If you are a dedicated professional with hands-on expertise in tool room operations and a passion for precision engineering, we invite you to be a part of our growing organization.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, fabricate, and assemble precision tools, dies, jigs, fixtures, moulds, and gauges in accordance with engineering drawings and specifications.
  • Operate and maintain conventional and CNC machine tools including lathes, milling machines, grinding machines, EDM machines, and drill presses with a high degree of accuracy.
  • Inspect and measure finished components using precision measuring instruments such as vernier calipers, micrometers, height gauges, and CMM to ensure conformance to tolerances.
  • Diagnose, repair, and refurbish worn or damaged tools and dies to restore them to original specifications, minimizing production downtime.
  • Collaborate closely with design engineers, production supervisors, and quality teams to develop tooling solutions that improve manufacturing efficiency and product quality.
  • Maintain accurate records of tool inventory, maintenance schedules, repair logs, and material usage in compliance with company documentation standards.
  • Ensure all tool room activities comply with safety regulations, quality management systems, and company policies including 5S and lean manufacturing principles.
  • Provide technical guidance and mentoring to junior tool room staff and apprentices as required.

Requirements

  • Education: ITI certification in Tool and Die Making, Machinist, or a related trade; a Diploma in Mechanical or Production Engineering is an added advantage.
  • Experience: Minimum 3 to 6 years of hands-on experience in a tool room environment within the automotive, engineering, plastics, or sheet metal manufacturing industry.
  • Proficiency in reading and interpreting engineering drawings, GD&T symbols, and CAD/CAM outputs accurately.
  • Strong working knowledge of conventional and CNC machining processes, EDM operations, and surface grinding techniques.
  • Familiarity with quality standards such as ISO 9001 and experience working in a structured quality management environment.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while maintaining strict adherence to deadlines and production schedules.
  • Good analytical and problem-solving skills with a systematic approach to troubleshooting tool failures and process inefficiencies.

Benefits

  • Competitive Compensation: Attractive salary package commensurate with experience, along with performance-based incentives and annual increments.
  • Provident Fund and ESI: Full statutory benefits including Employees' Provident Fund (EPF) and Employees' State Insurance (ESI) as per government regulations.
  • Career Development: Opportunities for skill enhancement through in-house training programs, technical workshops, and sponsored certifications to support your professional growth.
  • Leave and Work-Life Balance: Paid annual leave, casual leave, sick leave, and national holidays in accordance with the Factories Act and company policy.
  • Safe and Modern Work Environment: Access to a well-equipped, safety-compliant tool room with modern machinery and a culture that prioritizes employee well-being and workplace safety.
