About the role
This is a leadership role within Google's Search organisation, focused on the Search Platforms team based in Bengaluru, Karnataka. The successful candidate will manage a team of software engineers, guiding them through the full software development lifecycle while maintaining a strong technical vision aligned with Google's broader search infrastructure goals.
As a Software Engineering Manager, the role involves setting team priorities, conducting design and code reviews, and collaborating cross-functionally with product managers, site reliability engineers, and other engineering leads. The manager is expected to foster a culture of technical excellence, continuous learning, and inclusive collaboration within the team.
- Team Leadership: Recruit, develop, and retain strong engineering talent; provide regular feedback and career guidance.
- Technical Direction: Define and communicate a coherent technical roadmap for Search Platforms initiatives.
- Execution: Ensure timely, high-quality delivery of engineering projects at scale.
- Cross-functional Partnership: Work closely with stakeholders across Search and wider Google teams to align on goals and dependencies.
