Software Engineering Manager – Search Platforms
Lead engineering teams building and scaling Google's Search Platforms infrastructure. This is a people-management role for an experienced software engineer based in Bengaluru, Karnataka.

This role sits within the Search organisation and focuses on the Search Platforms domain. The successful candidate will manage a team of software engineers, guiding technical direction, project delivery, and the professional growth of team members working on large-scale search infrastructure.
As an engineering manager, the individual will be expected to balance hands-on technical involvement with people leadership — setting priorities, removing blockers, and ensuring the team delivers reliable, high-quality systems that power search at scale.
- Team leadership: Recruit, mentor, and retain software engineers; conduct performance reviews and career development conversations.
- Technical oversight: Provide architectural guidance and uphold engineering standards across the team's projects.
- Cross-functional collaboration: Partner with product managers, site reliability engineers, and peer engineering teams to align on roadmap and execution.
- Delivery management: Own project planning, milestone tracking, and risk mitigation for the team's portfolio of work.
Candidates should bring a strong background in software engineering — sufficient to earn the trust of the engineers they manage — combined with demonstrated experience leading engineering teams in a fast-paced, large-scale environment.
