About the role
This role is an opportunity to lead a team of software engineers working on Search Platforms within Google's Search organisation, based in Bengaluru, Karnataka. The position combines hands-on technical leadership with people management, requiring a candidate who can set direction, uphold engineering excellence, and grow talent within the team.
As an Engineering Manager, the individual will be responsible for guiding the team through the full software development lifecycle — from defining technical roadmaps to overseeing design, implementation, and delivery of platform-level systems that power search at scale.
Key responsibilities include:
- Managing and mentoring a team of software engineers
- Setting and executing the technical vision for Search Platforms
- Collaborating cross-functionally with product, research, and infrastructure teams
- Driving engineering best practices, code quality, and system reliability
The ideal candidate brings a strong background in software engineering, proven experience leading technical teams, and a deep interest in building robust, large-scale platforms. Prior experience with search infrastructure or distributed systems is an advantage.
