About the Role

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Safety Officer to join our team and play a critical role in maintaining a safe and healthy work environment across our operations in India. The Safety Officer will be responsible for developing, implementing, and monitoring workplace health and safety programs in compliance with Indian regulatory standards, including the Factories Act, 1948, and other applicable legislation. This is a pivotal position that requires a proactive individual who can identify potential hazards, mitigate risks, and foster a strong culture of safety throughout the organization. The ideal candidate will demonstrate sound technical knowledge, excellent communication skills, and a genuine commitment to protecting the well-being of every employee on site.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop, implement, and regularly review comprehensive health, safety, and environment (HSE) policies and procedures in accordance with applicable Indian laws and industry best practices.
• Conduct routine workplace inspections, hazard identification assessments, and risk evaluations to proactively identify unsafe conditions and recommend corrective actions.
• Investigate workplace accidents, near-miss incidents, and occupational illnesses, preparing detailed reports with root cause analysis and preventive recommendations for management review.
• Plan and deliver safety training programs, toolbox talks, and awareness sessions to employees, contractors, and new joiners to build and sustain a strong safety culture.
• Ensure compliance with all statutory requirements including obtaining and renewing necessary licenses, permits, and certifications as mandated by local and national regulatory authorities.
• Maintain accurate and up-to-date safety records, incident logs, inspection reports, and documentation required for internal audits and regulatory inspections.
• Coordinate emergency response drills, mock evacuation exercises, and first aid training to ensure organizational preparedness for potential emergencies.
• Liaise with government bodies, factory inspectors, and external safety auditors to facilitate inspections and ensure timely closure of any non-compliance observations.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Science, or a related technical discipline; a diploma or degree in Industrial Safety is mandatory.
• Minimum of 3 to 6 years of proven experience as a Safety Officer or in a similar HSE role within manufacturing, construction, or industrial sectors in India.
• In-depth knowledge of Indian safety regulations including the Factories Act, 1948, OSHA guidelines, Environment Protection Act, and relevant state-specific rules.
• Certification from a recognized body such as the National Safety Council (NSC) or Institution of Engineers India is highly preferred.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to assess complex risk scenarios and implement effective control measures efficiently.
• Proficiency in preparing safety reports, conducting audits, and using MS Office tools for documentation and data management.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills in English and Hindi, with the ability to engage and train employees at all organizational levels.
