About the role

Production Shift Manager

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Production Shift Manager to oversee and manage all manufacturing operations during assigned shifts at our production facility. This role demands a hands-on leader who can drive operational efficiency, maintain quality standards, and ensure timely output while managing a large team of production workers and supervisors. The ideal candidate will bring a strong background in manufacturing environments such as FMCG, automotive, pharmaceuticals, or heavy industries.

As a Production Shift Manager, you will serve as the primary point of accountability for everything that happens on the shop floor during your shift. You will coordinate closely with cross-functional teams including Quality Assurance, Maintenance, Supply Chain, and Safety to ensure seamless production flow. Your ability to make quick, informed decisions under pressure will be critical to minimising downtime and meeting daily production targets.

This is an excellent opportunity for a results-driven professional looking to take ownership of a critical operational function within a growing manufacturing organisation. If you thrive in a fast-paced industrial environment and have a proven track record of leading large teams toward measurable outcomes, we strongly encourage you to apply.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage end-to-end production operations during the assigned shift, ensuring all output targets, quality benchmarks, and delivery timelines are consistently met.
  • Supervise, guide, and mentor a team of 30–80 production workers and line supervisors, conducting regular performance reviews and on-the-job coaching.
  • Monitor machine utilisation, raw material consumption, and shift productivity metrics, generating accurate shift reports for senior management review.
  • Coordinate with the Maintenance team to schedule preventive and breakdown maintenance, minimising unplanned stoppages and ensuring maximum equipment uptime.
  • Enforce strict compliance with GMP, ISO, and EHS (Environment, Health & Safety) standards across all production activities during the shift.
  • Identify process inefficiencies and implement continuous improvement initiatives using methodologies such as Lean Manufacturing, Kaizen, or Six Sigma.
  • Manage shift handover processes by ensuring clear communication of pending tasks, ongoing issues, and critical updates to the incoming shift manager.
  • Investigate production rejections, quality deviations, and near-miss incidents, preparing root cause analysis reports and implementing corrective actions.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or Diploma in Mechanical, Electrical, Chemical, or Industrial Engineering from a recognised Indian university.
  • Minimum 5–8 years of experience in a manufacturing or production environment, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or managerial capacity.
  • Proven ability to manage large, diverse shop-floor teams in a rotational shift environment, including night shifts.
  • Strong working knowledge of production planning, capacity utilisation, OEE (Overall Equipment Effectiveness), and quality control systems.
  • Familiarity with ERP systems such as SAP, Oracle, or equivalent for production tracking and reporting.
  • Excellent problem-solving, communication, and interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively under pressure.
  • Proficiency in Hindi and English; knowledge of the local regional language is an added advantage.

Benefits

  • Competitive CTC ranging from ₹8 LPA to ₹14 LPA based on experience, qualifications, and industry background.
  • Performance-linked incentives and annual bonus tied to shift productivity and safety targets.
  • Comprehensive health insurance coverage for self, spouse, and dependent children under a group mediclaim policy.
  • Structured career development programmes, internal promotion pathways, and sponsored technical training certifications.
  • Subsidised meals, transport facility, and statutory benefits including PF, Gratuity, and ESI as per Indian labour law.
