About the Role

We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Junior / Assistant Engineer — Electrical Power Plant to join our growing operations team at our thermal / hydro power generation facility. This is an excellent opportunity for a fresher or early-career electrical engineer to gain hands-on experience in a live power plant environment, working alongside seasoned professionals in a safety-critical, high-responsibility setting.

In this role, you will assist in the operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of electrical systems including generators, transformers, switchgear, protection relays, and auxiliary power equipment. You will work closely with Senior Engineers and Plant Supervisors to ensure the continuous, reliable, and safe generation of electrical power in compliance with CEA regulations and internal SOPs.

This position is ideal for candidates who have completed a B.E. / B.Tech in Electrical Engineering and are eager to build a long-term career in the power sector. Candidates with prior internship or apprenticeship experience in a power plant, substation, or heavy industry environment will be given strong preference.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in the daily operation and monitoring of generators, transformers, HT/LT switchgear, bus bars, and protection systems to ensure uninterrupted power generation.
  • Support preventive and corrective maintenance activities on electrical equipment including motors, capacitor banks, UPS systems, and battery chargers as per scheduled maintenance plans.
  • Participate in fault diagnosis and troubleshooting of electrical failures and breakdowns, coordinating with maintenance teams to minimise plant downtime.
  • Maintain accurate logs, shift reports, and maintenance records in compliance with plant documentation standards and ISO/CEA guidelines.
  • Assist in testing, calibration, and commissioning of electrical protection relays, meters, and control panels during planned shutdowns and overhauls.
  • Ensure strict adherence to electrical safety protocols, permit-to-work (PTW) systems, lockout/tagout (LOTO) procedures, and PPE usage at all times.
  • Coordinate with cross-functional teams including Mechanical, Instrumentation, and Control & Automation departments for integrated plant operations.
  • Support energy audit activities and assist in identifying opportunities for energy efficiency improvements and loss reduction within the plant.

Requirements

  • B.E. / B.Tech in Electrical Engineering from a recognised AICTE-approved institution; Diploma holders with significant relevant experience may also apply.
  • 0–3 years of experience in a power plant, substation, or heavy industrial electrical environment; freshers with strong academic records are welcome.
  • Basic working knowledge of HT/LT electrical systems, protection schemes, and power distribution networks.
  • Familiarity with Indian Electricity Rules, CEA (Technical Standards) Regulations, and general electrical safety standards.
  • Ability to read and interpret single-line diagrams (SLDs), electrical schematics, and equipment manuals.
  • Willingness to work in rotational shifts, including nights, weekends, and public holidays as required by plant operations.
  • Strong analytical thinking, a proactive attitude, and excellent communication skills in English and Hindi / regional language.

Benefits

  • Competitive CTC between ₹3.0 LPA – ₹5.5 LPA depending on qualifications and experience, with annual performance-linked increments.
  • Comprehensive health insurance coverage for self and immediate family members under a group mediclaim policy.
  • Subsidised accommodation, canteen facilities, and transport provided at the plant township for outstation candidates.
  • Structured on-the-job training, mentorship programmes, and opportunities to attend technical workshops and certification courses.
  • Clear career progression pathway to Senior Engineer and beyond, with internal promotion policies favouring high-performing employees.
