About the Role

We are seeking a motivated and technically sound Junior / Assistant Engineer — Electrical Power Plant to join our growing operations team at a thermal or renewable energy generation facility. This is an excellent opportunity for a fresher or early-career electrical engineer to build a strong foundation in power plant operations, electrical maintenance, and energy management within a structured and safety-driven environment.

The selected candidate will work closely with senior engineers and plant supervisors to ensure the reliable operation of electrical systems including generators, transformers, switchgear, protection relays, and auxiliary equipment. You will be actively involved in day-to-day plant operations, preventive maintenance schedules, and troubleshooting electrical faults to minimize downtime and maximize plant availability.

This role is well-suited for candidates who have completed a B.E. / B.Tech in Electrical Engineering and are eager to gain hands-on experience in the power sector. Candidates with exposure to thermal power plants, captive power plants, or renewable energy projects will be given preference. The position offers a clear career growth path toward Senior Engineer and Plant Superintendent roles.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in the operation, monitoring, and control of electrical equipment including HT/LT switchgear, transformers, bus bars, capacitor banks, and protection systems.
  • Carry out routine preventive and predictive maintenance of generators, motors, UPS systems, battery banks, and electrical distribution panels as per scheduled maintenance plans.
  • Support senior engineers in testing and commissioning of new electrical equipment and systems during plant expansion or upgrades.
  • Monitor plant electrical parameters such as voltage, current, power factor, and frequency through SCADA or DCS control systems and report deviations promptly.
  • Identify, diagnose, and assist in rectifying electrical faults and equipment failures to ensure minimum plant downtime and uninterrupted power generation.
  • Maintain accurate technical documentation including maintenance logs, equipment history cards, test reports, and incident reports in compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Ensure strict adherence to electrical safety standards, permit-to-work systems, and occupational health and safety protocols at all times within the plant premises.
  • Coordinate with the stores and procurement teams for timely availability of electrical spares, consumables, and tools required for maintenance activities.

Requirements

  • Education: B.E. / B.Tech in Electrical Engineering from a recognized university; Diploma holders with strong relevant experience may also apply.
  • Experience: 0–3 years of experience in electrical maintenance or operations in a power plant, captive power plant, or heavy industry environment.
  • Working knowledge of HT/LT electrical systems, protection relays, transformer maintenance, and motor control centers (MCC).
  • Familiarity with SCADA, DCS, or PLC-based control systems is a distinct advantage.
  • Understanding of CEA regulations, Indian Electricity Rules, and relevant IS standards applicable to power plant operations.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to work effectively in shift-based operations including night shifts and weekends.
  • Good communication skills in English and Hindi; proficiency in the regional language is an added advantage.

Benefits

  • Competitive CTC in the range of ₹3.0 – ₹5.5 LPA based on qualification, experience, and interview performance.
  • Subsidized accommodation, transport, and canteen facilities available at plant location for outstation candidates.
  • Structured on-the-job training programs, technical certifications, and mentorship from experienced power sector professionals.
  • Provident Fund (PF), Employee State Insurance (ESI), gratuity, and group medical insurance as per statutory norms.
  • Clear internal promotion policy with performance-linked increments and fast-track growth opportunities within the organization.
