About the Role

We are seeking a motivated and technically sound Junior / Assistant Engineer — Electrical Power Plant to join our growing operations team at a leading power generation facility in India. This is an excellent opportunity for early-career electrical engineers to gain hands-on experience in a dynamic, high-stakes environment. The selected candidate will work closely with senior engineers and plant supervisors to ensure the safe, efficient, and uninterrupted operation of electrical systems within the power plant. This role demands a strong foundation in electrical engineering principles, a commitment to safety standards, and the ability to perform effectively under pressure.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in the operation, monitoring, and maintenance of electrical equipment including transformers, switchgear, generators, motors, and control panels within the power plant premises.
  • Perform routine preventive and corrective maintenance activities on HT/LT electrical systems, ensuring minimal downtime and optimal plant performance.
  • Support senior engineers in conducting electrical testing, inspection, and commissioning of new equipment and systems as per applicable standards and OEM guidelines.
  • Monitor plant electrical parameters such as voltage, current, power factor, and frequency, and report anomalies to the shift-in-charge or control room promptly.
  • Maintain accurate logbooks, maintenance records, and shift reports in compliance with plant documentation and ISO quality management requirements.
  • Strictly adhere to electrical safety protocols, including lockout/tagout (LOTO) procedures, permit-to-work systems, and PPE usage to ensure a safe working environment.
  • Coordinate with the instrumentation, mechanical, and civil teams to support planned shutdowns, overhauls, and emergency restoration activities efficiently.
  • Participate in root cause analysis (RCA) of electrical failures and contribute to the implementation of corrective and preventive actions to improve system reliability.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree (B.E. / B.Tech) in Electrical Engineering or Electrical and Electronics Engineering from a recognized university; diploma holders with relevant experience may also be considered.
  • 0–3 years of experience in electrical operations or maintenance within a thermal, hydro, solar, or gas-based power plant or heavy industrial facility.
  • Sound knowledge of HT/LT switchgear, protection relays, bus bars, transformers, and DG sets, along with familiarity with single-line diagrams and electrical drawings.
  • Understanding of Indian Electricity Rules, CEA regulations, and IS/IEC standards applicable to power plant electrical systems.
  • Proficiency in using basic electrical testing instruments such as multimeters, insulation testers, earth resistance testers, and power quality analyzers.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to respond quickly and effectively during plant emergencies or equipment failures.
  • Willingness to work in rotational shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays, as required by plant operational schedules.

Benefits

  • Competitive salary package aligned with industry standards, along with performance-linked incentives and annual increments based on appraisal outcomes.
  • Comprehensive health insurance coverage for the employee and immediate family members, including medical, dental, and accidental benefits.
  • Structured training and development programs, including on-the-job mentoring, technical certifications, and opportunities to attend industry workshops and seminars.
  • Provident Fund (PF), Gratuity, and statutory benefits as per Indian labour laws, along with subsidized accommodation or HRA where applicable.
  • A clear and defined career progression pathway offering opportunities to advance to Senior Engineer and Shift Engineer roles based on performance and experience.
