About the Role

We are seeking a motivated and technically sound Junior / Assistant Engineer — Electrical Power Plant to join our growing operations team at a leading power generation facility in India. This is an excellent opportunity for early-career electrical engineers to gain hands-on experience in a dynamic, high-stakes environment. The successful candidate will work closely with senior engineers and plant managers to ensure the safe, efficient, and reliable operation of electrical systems across the power plant. You will be expected to demonstrate a strong foundation in electrical engineering principles, a commitment to workplace safety, and the ability to work effectively under pressure.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in the operation, monitoring, and maintenance of electrical equipment including transformers, switchgear, generators, motors, and control panels within the power plant premises.
  • Support senior engineers in conducting routine inspections, preventive maintenance schedules, and breakdown maintenance activities to minimise plant downtime and ensure continuous power supply.
  • Participate in the commissioning and testing of new electrical installations, equipment upgrades, and system modifications in accordance with applicable standards and safety protocols.
  • Monitor electrical parameters such as voltage, current, frequency, and power factor using SCADA systems and other control room instrumentation, reporting anomalies promptly to supervisors.
  • Prepare and maintain accurate technical documentation including maintenance logs, inspection reports, equipment history cards, and shift handover records.
  • Ensure strict adherence to electrical safety standards, including permit-to-work systems, lockout/tagout (LOTO) procedures, and compliance with CEA regulations and applicable Indian Electricity Rules.
  • Coordinate with contractors, vendors, and cross-functional teams during planned outages and shutdown maintenance activities to ensure timely and quality execution of work.
  • Identify opportunities for energy optimisation and process improvement, and contribute to root cause analysis following equipment failures or near-miss incidents.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree (B.E. / B.Tech) in Electrical Engineering from a recognised university; candidates with a Diploma in Electrical Engineering and relevant experience will also be considered.
  • 0–3 years of experience in a power plant, utility, or heavy industrial electrical environment; fresh graduates with strong academic credentials and internship experience are encouraged to apply.
  • Working knowledge of HT/LT switchgear, protection relays, bus bars, cable systems, and associated electrical infrastructure commonly found in thermal, hydro, or renewable energy plants.
  • Familiarity with SCADA, DCS, or PLC-based control systems and basic understanding of electrical protection and metering schemes.
  • Possession of or eligibility to obtain a valid Electrical Supervisor Competency Certificate as required under the Indian Electricity Rules is an advantage.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to respond quickly and calmly in emergency situations.
  • Willingness to work in rotational shifts, including night shifts and weekends, as required by plant operations.

Benefits

  • Competitive salary package with performance-linked incentives and annual increments in line with industry standards.
  • Comprehensive health insurance coverage for the employee and immediate family members, along with group personal accident insurance.
  • Access to structured technical training programmes, professional development workshops, and opportunities for higher education sponsorship.
  • Provident Fund, Gratuity, and other statutory benefits as per Indian labour laws, ensuring long-term financial security.
  • A safe, inclusive, and growth-oriented work culture with clear career progression pathways into senior engineering and management roles.
