About the Role

We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Junior / Assistant Engineer — Electrical Power Plant to join our growing operations team at a leading power generation facility in India. In this role, you will work closely with senior engineers and plant operations staff to ensure the safe, efficient, and reliable generation and distribution of electrical power. This is an excellent opportunity for a fresh graduate or early-career professional to build a strong technical foundation in power plant operations, electrical systems maintenance, and energy management within a dynamic and safety-focused environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in the operation, monitoring, and maintenance of electrical equipment including generators, transformers, switchgear, control panels, and protection relay systems within the power plant.
  • Support senior engineers in conducting routine inspections, preventive maintenance schedules, and breakdown analysis to minimize equipment downtime and ensure uninterrupted power supply.
  • Monitor electrical parameters such as voltage, current, frequency, and power factor through SCADA systems and control room instrumentation, reporting anomalies promptly to the shift supervisor.
  • Participate in the testing, commissioning, and calibration of electrical equipment and protection systems in accordance with applicable standards and safety protocols.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of maintenance activities, equipment logs, daily shift reports, and incident documentation as per plant management requirements.
  • Coordinate with cross-functional teams including mechanical, instrumentation, and civil departments to support planned outages, shutdowns, and capital improvement projects.
  • Ensure strict compliance with electrical safety regulations, CEA guidelines, and company Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) policies during all operational and maintenance activities.
  • Assist in identifying opportunities for energy efficiency improvements and contribute to root cause analysis for recurring electrical faults or failures.

Requirements

  • Educational Qualification: Bachelor of Engineering (B.E.) or Bachelor of Technology (B.Tech) in Electrical Engineering, or a Diploma in Electrical Engineering from a recognized institution.
  • Experience: 0–3 years of relevant experience in a thermal, hydro, solar, or gas-based power plant environment; fresh graduates with strong academic backgrounds are encouraged to apply.
  • Working knowledge of electrical power systems, protection schemes, HT/LT switchgear, bus bar systems, and transformer operations is highly desirable.
  • Familiarity with relevant Indian standards and regulatory frameworks including CEA Regulations, IE Rules, and IS codes applicable to power plant operations.
  • Proficiency in reading and interpreting single-line diagrams, electrical drawings, and equipment manuals.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to work effectively under pressure during emergency or breakdown situations.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills in English and Hindi; willingness to work in rotational shifts, including night shifts and weekends, as required by plant operations.

Benefits

  • Competitive Compensation: Attractive salary package aligned with industry standards, along with performance-based annual increments and incentive bonuses.
  • Professional Development: Access to structured training programs, technical workshops, and certification courses to accelerate your engineering career growth.
  • Health and Wellness: Comprehensive medical insurance coverage for employees and their dependents, including cashless hospitalization and preventive health check-ups.
  • Statutory Benefits: Provident Fund (PF), Gratuity, and Employee State Insurance (ESI) contributions in full compliance with Indian labor regulations.
  • Work Environment: A collaborative, safety-first workplace culture that values innovation, teamwork, and continuous improvement across all levels of the organization.
