About the Role
We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Junior / Assistant Engineer — Electrical Power Plant to join our growing operations team at a leading power generation facility in India. This is an excellent opportunity for early-career electrical engineers to gain hands-on experience in a dynamic, high-responsibility environment. The successful candidate will work closely with senior engineers and plant supervisors to ensure the safe, efficient, and reliable operation of electrical systems across the power plant. You will be exposed to a wide range of technical challenges, contributing directly to the uninterrupted supply of power to industrial and residential consumers.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in the operation, monitoring, and maintenance of electrical equipment including transformers, switchgear, generators, motors, and protection relay systems within the power plant.
- Support senior engineers in conducting routine and preventive maintenance schedules to minimize equipment downtime and ensure compliance with safety standards and regulatory requirements.
- Monitor control panels, SCADA systems, and DCS consoles to track real-time plant performance parameters and report anomalies or deviations promptly to the shift engineer.
- Participate in fault diagnosis, troubleshooting, and rectification of electrical faults in HT/LT systems, ensuring minimal disruption to plant operations.
- Assist in the preparation and maintenance of technical documentation, including maintenance logs, inspection reports, equipment history cards, and electrical drawings.
- Coordinate with the procurement and stores department for timely availability of spare parts and consumables required for electrical maintenance activities.
- Adhere strictly to health, safety, and environmental (HSE) policies, including permit-to-work systems, lockout/tagout (LOTO) procedures, and personal protective equipment usage at all times.
- Support commissioning and testing activities for new electrical installations and equipment upgrades, working alongside project and OEM teams as required.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree (B.E. / B.Tech) in Electrical Engineering from a recognized university, or a Diploma in Electrical Engineering with relevant plant experience.
- 0–3 years of experience in an electrical power plant, thermal plant, captive power plant, or similar heavy industrial environment; fresh graduates with strong academic backgrounds are encouraged to apply.
- Working knowledge of HT/LT switchgear, protection relays, transformers, and power distribution systems is highly desirable.
- Familiarity with SCADA, DCS, or PLC-based control systems will be considered a significant advantage.
- Strong understanding of electrical safety standards and practices, including IS codes, CEA regulations, and industry best practices applicable to power generation facilities in India.
- Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, single-line diagrams, and technical manuals accurately and efficiently.
- Excellent communication skills, teamwork orientation, and willingness to work in rotational shifts, including nights and weekends, as required by plant operations.
Benefits
- Competitive salary package in line with industry standards, with structured annual performance reviews and merit-based increments.
- Comprehensive medical insurance coverage for the employee and immediate family members, along with group personal accident insurance.
- Access to structured training and development programs, including technical certifications, safety training, and opportunities to attend industry seminars and workshops.
- Provident Fund (PF), Gratuity, and other statutory benefits as per applicable Indian labour laws, ensuring long-term financial security.
- A supportive and professional work environment with clear career progression pathways, offering opportunities to grow into senior engineering and supervisory roles within the organization.
