About the Role

We are seeking a motivated and technically sound Junior / Assistant Engineer — Electrical Power Plant to join our growing operations team at a leading power generation facility in India. This is an excellent opportunity for early-career electrical engineers to gain hands-on experience in a dynamic, high-responsibility environment. The successful candidate will work closely with senior engineers and plant supervisors to ensure the safe, efficient, and reliable operation of electrical systems across the plant. You will be exposed to a wide range of electrical equipment, control systems, and maintenance practices that are fundamental to modern power plant operations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in the operation, monitoring, and maintenance of electrical equipment including transformers, switchgear, generators, motors, and protection relay systems within the power plant.
  • Support daily shift operations by conducting routine inspections, recording operational parameters, and reporting anomalies to the shift-in-charge in a timely manner.
  • Participate in planned and preventive maintenance activities for HT/LT panels, bus ducts, capacitor banks, and associated electrical infrastructure as per the scheduled maintenance calendar.
  • Assist in fault diagnosis and troubleshooting of electrical failures, helping to minimize plant downtime and restore normal operations efficiently and safely.
  • Maintain accurate logs, records, and technical documentation including maintenance reports, equipment history cards, and compliance checklists in accordance with regulatory and company standards.
  • Coordinate with cross-functional teams including mechanical, instrumentation, and civil departments to support planned outages, shutdowns, and capital improvement projects.
  • Ensure strict adherence to safety protocols, permit-to-work systems, and statutory regulations including those prescribed by the Central Electricity Authority (CEA) and other applicable bodies.
  • Support the implementation of energy efficiency initiatives and assist in identifying opportunities to reduce auxiliary power consumption and operational losses.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree (B.E. / B.Tech) in Electrical Engineering from a recognized university, or a Diploma in Electrical Engineering with relevant hands-on experience in a power plant environment.
  • 0–3 years of experience in electrical operations or maintenance within a thermal, hydro, solar, or gas-based power plant; freshers with strong academic records are encouraged to apply.
  • Working knowledge of HT/LT electrical systems, protection schemes, and switchyard operations is highly desirable.
  • Familiarity with relevant Indian standards and regulations including IS codes, CEA guidelines, and Electricity Act provisions governing power plant operations.
  • Proficiency in reading and interpreting electrical drawings, single-line diagrams, schematic circuits, and equipment manuals.
  • Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to work effectively under pressure during emergency situations or unplanned outages.
  • Possession of or eligibility for a valid Electrical Supervisory Certificate of Competency as required under applicable state electricity rules is an added advantage.

Benefits

  • Competitive salary package in line with industry standards, with performance-linked increments reviewed annually.
  • Comprehensive health insurance coverage for the employee and immediate family members, along with group accident insurance.
  • Structured training and development programs, including technical certifications, safety training, and opportunities to attend industry seminars and workshops.
  • Subsidized accommodation and transport facilities available for plant-based postings, along with canteen and other on-site amenities.
  • A clear and transparent career progression pathway with opportunities to grow into senior engineering and supervisory roles based on performance and experience.
