Gold Loan Manager – Job Description

We are looking for a dynamic and experienced Gold Loan Manager to join our growing financial services team. In this role, you will be responsible for overseeing the end-to-end gold loan process, ensuring accurate valuation of gold assets, disbursing loans efficiently, and maintaining strong customer relationships. This is a high-impact position that directly contributes to branch revenue and portfolio growth.

The ideal candidate will have a thorough understanding of gold purity assessment, RBI guidelines related to gold lending, and the competitive landscape of gold loan products in India. You will work closely with branch operations, credit teams, and customers to ensure a seamless and compliant loan experience. Strong attention to detail and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment are essential for success in this role.

This position offers an excellent opportunity to grow within the NBFC or banking sector, with exposure to retail lending operations, team management, and customer acquisition strategies. Candidates with prior experience in gold loan companies such as Muthoot Finance, Manappuram Finance, or similar institutions are strongly encouraged to apply.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct accurate gold appraisal and purity testing using touchstone, acid testing, and electronic karat meters to determine loan eligibility and value.
• Process gold loan applications end-to-end, including documentation verification, KYC compliance, loan disbursement, and pledge management.
• Ensure strict adherence to RBI guidelines and internal credit policies related to Loan-to-Value (LTV) ratios and gold loan norms.
• Manage and safeguard pledged gold inventory, maintaining accurate records of gold received, stored, and released.
• Drive gold loan business targets by actively acquiring new customers and cross-selling financial products such as insurance and savings schemes.
• Handle loan renewals, repayments, interest collections, and auction proceedings for overdue accounts in compliance with regulatory requirements.
• Resolve customer queries and complaints promptly, ensuring a high standard of customer service and satisfaction at all times.
• Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly MIS reports on loan disbursements, outstanding portfolio, and branch performance for senior management review.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Commerce, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field; MBA preferred.
• Minimum 2–5 years of experience in gold loan operations, preferably with an NBFC, private bank, or cooperative bank.
• Proficiency in gold testing and valuation techniques, including knowledge of hallmarking standards and gold purity grades.
• Sound knowledge of RBI regulations governing gold loans, KYC norms, and anti-money laundering (AML) policies.
• Strong numerical ability, attention to detail, and experience handling cash and high-value assets responsibly.
• Proficiency in MS Office and loan management software; familiarity with Finacle or similar banking platforms is an advantage.
• Excellent communication skills in English and the local regional language to effectively interact with diverse customers.
