Freight Broker

About the Role

We are seeking a driven and detail-oriented Freight Broker to join our growing logistics team in India. In this role, you will serve as the critical link between shippers who need to transport goods and carriers who provide transportation services. You will be responsible for negotiating competitive freight rates, building lasting relationships with clients and carriers, and ensuring the smooth and timely movement of cargo across domestic and international routes. Key Responsibilities

• Identify, develop, and maintain strong relationships with shippers, importers, exporters, and freight carriers across road, rail, air, and sea transportation modes.
• Negotiate freight rates and contractual terms with carriers to secure the most cost-effective and reliable transportation solutions for clients.
• Coordinate end-to-end shipment logistics, including booking, documentation, customs clearance, and last-mile delivery to ensure on-time performance.
• Monitor active shipments in real time, proactively communicate updates to clients, and resolve any delays, disputes, or operational issues promptly.
• Prepare and review all relevant shipping documentation, including bills of lading, invoices, purchase orders, and customs declarations in compliance with Indian and international regulations.
• Develop and grow a personal book of business by prospecting new clients through cold calling, networking, referrals, and industry events.
• Analyze market trends, freight rate fluctuations, and carrier capacity to provide strategic recommendations and maintain competitive pricing.
• Collaborate with internal operations, finance, and customer service teams to ensure seamless service delivery and accurate invoicing.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field is preferred.
• Minimum of 2–4 years of experience in freight brokerage, freight forwarding, or a similar logistics and transportation role within the Indian market.
• Strong knowledge of domestic and international shipping regulations, customs procedures, Incoterms, and multimodal transportation systems.
• Excellent negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills with a proven ability to manage and grow client relationships effectively.
• Proficiency in logistics management software, freight tracking platforms, and standard office tools such as Microsoft Excel and CRM systems.
• Ability to work independently under pressure, manage multiple shipments simultaneously, and meet tight deadlines in a target-driven environment.
• Fluency in English is required; proficiency in Hindi or additional regional languages is considered a strong advantage.
