Freight Broker

About the Role

We are seeking a driven and detail-oriented Freight Broker to join our growing logistics team in India. In this role, you will serve as the critical link between shippers who need to transport goods and carriers who provide transportation services. You will be responsible for negotiating competitive freight rates, building strong business relationships, and ensuring the seamless movement of cargo across domestic and international routes. The ideal candidate brings a strong understanding of the Indian logistics landscape, excellent communication skills, and a proven ability to thrive in a fast-paced, target-driven environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Identify, develop, and maintain strong relationships with shippers, manufacturers, and cargo owners to generate consistent freight business opportunities.
• Source reliable carriers, transporters, and logistics partners to match shipment requirements based on route, capacity, and cost efficiency.
• Negotiate freight rates and contract terms with both shippers and carriers to ensure competitive pricing while maintaining healthy profit margins.
• Coordinate end-to-end shipment logistics including pickup scheduling, documentation, transit tracking, and timely delivery confirmation.
• Monitor active shipments in real time and proactively communicate updates, delays, or issues to all relevant stakeholders.
• Maintain accurate records of all transactions, invoices, carrier agreements, and shipment documentation in compliance with regulatory standards.
• Analyze market trends, freight rates, and lane data to identify new business opportunities and optimize existing operations.
• Resolve disputes, claims, and service failures efficiently while upholding a high standard of customer satisfaction and professional integrity.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field is preferred.
• Minimum of 2 to 4 years of experience in freight brokerage, freight forwarding, or a similar logistics role within the Indian market.
• Strong knowledge of domestic and international freight modes including road, rail, air, and sea transportation.
• Excellent negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills with the ability to manage multiple stakeholders simultaneously.
• Proficiency in transportation management systems (TMS), freight management software, and standard MS Office applications.
• Familiarity with Indian customs regulations, GST documentation, and freight compliance requirements is a significant advantage.
• Self-motivated, highly organized, and capable of working independently under pressure to meet tight deadlines and revenue targets.
