About the Role

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Deputy Manager – Claims (DM-Claims) to join our growing team based in Thane, India. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced claims professional to take ownership of end-to-end claims management within a dynamic and fast-paced insurance or financial services environment. The ideal candidate will bring strong analytical capabilities, a customer-first mindset, and a thorough understanding of claims processing frameworks, regulatory guidelines, and risk assessment practices. You will play a pivotal role in ensuring timely, accurate, and fair settlement of claims while maintaining the highest standards of compliance and operational efficiency.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee and manage the end-to-end claims lifecycle, including registration, investigation, assessment, approval, and settlement, ensuring adherence to defined turnaround times and quality benchmarks.
  • Review and evaluate complex or high-value claims to determine liability, coverage applicability, and appropriate settlement amounts in line with policy terms and conditions.
  • Coordinate closely with internal teams such as underwriting, legal, finance, and operations to facilitate seamless claims resolution and minimize disputes or escalations.
  • Conduct detailed analysis of claims data to identify patterns, trends, and potential instances of fraud or misrepresentation, and initiate appropriate investigative action where required.
  • Ensure full compliance with IRDAI regulations, internal policies, and industry best practices throughout the claims handling process.
  • Manage and mentor a team of claims executives and associates, providing guidance, training, and performance feedback to drive team productivity and professional development.
  • Engage with customers, hospitals, surveyors, and third-party administrators to resolve queries, provide status updates, and deliver a superior claims experience.
  • Prepare and present regular MIS reports, dashboards, and performance metrics to senior management, highlighting key insights and areas for process improvement.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Commerce, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field; a postgraduate qualification or professional certification in insurance (such as Licentiate or Associate from III) will be an added advantage.
  • Minimum 4–7 years of experience in claims management within the general insurance, health insurance, or life insurance sector, with at least 1–2 years in a supervisory or managerial capacity.
  • Strong working knowledge of insurance policy wordings, claims regulations, and IRDAI guidelines applicable to the relevant line of business.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to handle complex, high-value, or contested claims independently and decisively.
  • Proficiency in claims management systems and MS Office tools, particularly Excel and PowerPoint, for data analysis and reporting purposes.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to effectively liaise with internal stakeholders, external partners, and customers across all levels.
  • Demonstrated ability to work under pressure, manage multiple priorities simultaneously, and consistently meet deadlines in a target-driven environment.

Benefits

  • Competitive salary package with performance-linked incentives and annual appraisal cycles aligned with industry standards.
  • Comprehensive health and wellness benefits, including medical insurance coverage for self and dependents, and employee assistance programs.
  • Structured learning and development programs, including access to professional certifications, leadership training, and internal mobility opportunities.
  • A collaborative and inclusive workplace culture that values innovation, integrity, and employee well-being at every level of the organization.
  • Convenient Thane location with accessible transport links, flexible work arrangements where applicable, and a modern, well-equipped office environment.
