About the Role

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Deputy Manager – Claims (DM-Claims) to join our growing team based in Thane, India. This is a critical role within our insurance operations division, responsible for overseeing end-to-end claims processing, ensuring timely settlements, and maintaining the highest standards of accuracy and compliance. The ideal candidate will bring a strong background in insurance claims management, excellent analytical capabilities, and a customer-first mindset. You will work closely with cross-functional teams including underwriting, legal, and customer service to deliver seamless claims experiences while minimizing risk and financial exposure for the organization.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage and oversee the complete claims lifecycle, from first notification of loss (FNOL) through investigation, assessment, and final settlement, ensuring adherence to defined turnaround times.
  • Review, analyze, and adjudicate complex claims across product lines, applying policy terms and conditions accurately to determine coverage eligibility and settlement amounts.
  • Lead a team of claims executives and associates, providing day-to-day guidance, performance coaching, and workload management to ensure operational efficiency and team productivity.
  • Coordinate with surveyors, third-party administrators (TPAs), legal advisors, and external investigators to gather evidence and validate claim authenticity.
  • Identify and flag potentially fraudulent or suspicious claims, conducting thorough due diligence and escalating cases to the fraud investigation unit as required.
  • Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) such as claims settlement ratio, average claims processing time, and customer satisfaction scores, preparing regular MIS reports for senior management.
  • Ensure full compliance with IRDAI regulations, internal policies, and statutory requirements throughout the claims handling process.
  • Engage directly with policyholders and claimants to communicate claim decisions, resolve escalated grievances, and maintain high levels of customer satisfaction throughout the claims journey.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Commerce, Business Administration, Finance, or a related field; a postgraduate qualification or professional certification in insurance (such as Licentiate or Associate from III) is preferred.
  • Minimum 5–8 years of experience in insurance claims management within a general or life insurance company, TPA, or related financial services organization.
  • Strong working knowledge of IRDAI guidelines, insurance regulations, and claims settlement procedures applicable in India.
  • Proven experience in team leadership with the ability to manage, mentor, and develop a high-performing claims team in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with a demonstrated ability to handle complex, high-value claims independently and with sound judgment.
  • Proficiency in claims management systems, MS Office Suite, and MIS reporting tools; experience with digital claims platforms is an added advantage.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills in both English and Hindi, with the ability to engage effectively with internal stakeholders, clients, and external partners.

Benefits

  • Competitive compensation package with performance-linked incentives and annual appraisals aligned to industry benchmarks.
  • Comprehensive health insurance coverage for employees and immediate family members, along with life and accidental insurance benefits.
  • Structured learning and development programs, including sponsorship for professional insurance certifications and leadership development initiatives.
  • A collaborative and inclusive work culture that values innovation, integrity, and professional growth at every level of the organization.
  • Convenient Thane-based office location with accessible transport links, flexible working arrangements, and a supportive work-life balance environment.
