Diploma Engineer Trainee (DET)

About the Role

We are looking for motivated and technically sound Diploma Engineer Trainees (DET) to join our growing engineering team. This entry-level trainee position is specifically designed for candidates who have recently completed their Diploma in Engineering and are eager to apply their technical knowledge in a real-world industrial environment. The role offers structured on-the-job training under the guidance of experienced engineers across various departments including production, maintenance, quality, and design.

As a Diploma Engineer Trainee, you will undergo a comprehensive training programme typically spanning 12 to 24 months, during which you will rotate across key functional areas to build a strong foundation in core engineering practices. You will work closely with senior engineers and department heads, gaining hands-on exposure to modern machinery, manufacturing processes, and engineering documentation standards followed in the Indian industry.

This role is an excellent stepping stone for diploma holders who wish to build a long-term career in the engineering sector. Candidates who demonstrate strong performance during the training period will be considered for absorption as permanent Junior Engineers based on appraisal outcomes and organisational requirements.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist senior engineers in day-to-day operations across production, maintenance, or quality control departments as per the assigned training schedule.
• Monitor and operate machinery and equipment under supervision, ensuring adherence to standard operating procedures (SOPs) and safety protocols.
• Support the preparation and maintenance of engineering drawings, technical reports, inspection records, and daily production logs.
• Participate actively in preventive and breakdown maintenance activities to minimise machine downtime and ensure smooth plant operations.
• Conduct routine quality checks and inspections on raw materials, in-process components, and finished goods as per defined quality parameters.
• Identify minor technical issues on the shop floor and escalate them promptly to the concerned engineer or supervisor for timely resolution.
• Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives such as Kaizen, 5S, and Lean Manufacturing activities within the department.
• Maintain a training logbook and submit periodic progress reports to the training coordinator or HR department as required.

Requirements

• Diploma in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Electronics, Civil, or related discipline) from a recognised polytechnic or technical institute approved by the AICTE or State Board of Technical Education.
• Minimum aggregate of 55% or above in the final diploma examination (relaxation applicable for reserved category candidates as per company policy).
• Freshers or candidates with up to 1 year of experience in a relevant engineering field are eligible to apply.
• Basic proficiency in computer applications including MS Office; familiarity with AutoCAD or any ERP system will be an added advantage.
• Strong willingness to learn, adaptability to shift-based work environments, and ability to work effectively in a team setting.
• Good communication skills in English and the local regional language; ability to read and interpret basic engineering drawings and technical documents.
