Detail Engineering – Job Description
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Detail Engineer to join our growing engineering team based in India. This role plays a critical part in the execution of large-scale industrial and infrastructure projects, translating conceptual and basic engineering designs into comprehensive, construction-ready documentation. The ideal candidate will bring technical precision, cross-discipline coordination skills, and a deep understanding of Indian and international engineering standards.
As a Detail Engineer, you will work closely with process, mechanical, piping, civil, electrical, and instrumentation disciplines to produce detailed engineering deliverables that meet project specifications, client requirements, and statutory compliance norms. You will be embedded in a fast-paced project environment, collaborating with PMC teams, EPC contractors, and third-party vendors to ensure seamless execution from FEED to final handover.
This position is ideal for professionals with hands-on experience in oil and gas, petrochemicals, power, or heavy manufacturing sectors. A strong command of relevant design software, codes such as ASME, IS, IBR, and PESO regulations, and the ability to manage multiple deliverables under tight schedules will be essential to success in this role.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and review detailed engineering drawings including P&IDs, isometrics, general arrangement drawings, equipment layouts, and fabrication drawings across disciplines.
- Develop and maintain engineering deliverable lists, ensuring timely submission of drawings and documents as per project schedules and MTO requirements.
- Coordinate with process and design teams to ensure technical accuracy and constructability of all detailed engineering outputs.
- Conduct inter-discipline checks (IDC) and resolve technical clashes using 3D modelling tools such as PDMS, E3D, or SmartPlant.
- Review and approve vendor drawings and technical submittals, ensuring compliance with project specifications and applicable Indian and international standards.
- Support site engineering queries (SIEQs) and provide technical clarifications during construction and commissioning phases.
- Ensure all documentation adheres to PESO, IBR, BIS, ASME, and client-specific standards and is prepared in accordance with quality management procedures.
- Participate in HAZOP, constructability reviews, and design audits as a technical representative from the detail engineering team.
Requirements
- B.E. / B.Tech in Mechanical, Chemical, Civil, or related Engineering discipline from a recognised Indian university; M.Tech is an added advantage.
- Minimum 5–12 years of experience in detail engineering roles within EPC or EPCM environments in sectors such as oil and gas, refinery, fertiliser, or power.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD, PDMS/E3D, Caesar II, or equivalent design and analysis tools relevant to your primary discipline.
- Strong working knowledge of Indian statutory regulations including IBR, PESO, CPCB norms, and relevant IS codes.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple deliverables simultaneously and coordinate effectively with multi-discipline teams and clients.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with experience in client-facing documentation and reporting.
Benefits
- Competitive CTC benchmarked against industry standards with performance-linked annual increments and project incentives.
- Opportunities for professional development and certifications, including sponsored training in advanced engineering tools and international codes.
- Exposure to large-scale national and international projects, offering significant career growth and cross-discipline learning.
- Health insurance coverage for self and family, along with provident fund, gratuity, and other statutory benefits as per Indian labour law.
- Flexible working arrangements and a collaborative, inclusive work culture that values technical excellence and innovation.
