Detail Engineering – Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Detail Engineering professional to join our growing team. This role sits at the heart of our project execution lifecycle, responsible for translating conceptual and basic engineering designs into comprehensive, construction-ready documentation. The ideal candidate will bring technical precision, cross-discipline coordination expertise, and a deep understanding of industry codes and standards applicable to the Indian and international engineering landscape.

As a Detail Engineer, you will work closely with process, mechanical, structural, electrical, and instrumentation disciplines to produce detailed engineering deliverables including drawings, specifications, material take-offs, and vendor documentation. You will play a critical role in ensuring that all design outputs meet project requirements, safety standards, and regulatory compliance before handover to procurement and construction teams.

This position offers an exciting opportunity to work on large-scale projects across sectors such as oil and gas, petrochemicals, power, or infrastructure, contributing to landmark developments across India and potentially offshore assignments. We value professionals who demonstrate ownership, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple deliverables within tight project timelines.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and review detailed engineering drawings including P&IDs, GADs, isometrics, plot plans, and equipment layouts in compliance with project specifications and applicable codes such as ASME, IS, and IBR.
  • Prepare and check Material Take-Offs (MTOs), Bill of Materials (BOMs), and technical specifications for procurement and construction teams.
  • Coordinate with multi-discipline engineering teams to resolve design conflicts, manage interfaces, and ensure integrated deliverable quality across all packages.
  • Review and comment on vendor drawings and documents, ensuring alignment with project design basis and client requirements.
  • Maintain and update the Document Control Register, ensuring all deliverables are issued as per the agreed schedule and revision control procedures.
  • Participate in design reviews, HAZOP studies, model reviews (3D), and constructability reviews to support safe and efficient project execution.
  • Ensure all engineering outputs comply with Indian statutory regulations, client standards, and international best practices including OISD, PESO, and factory inspectorate requirements where applicable.
  • Support the construction and commissioning teams by providing technical clarifications, site queries resolution, and as-built documentation updates.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Chemical, Civil, or Electrical Engineering from a recognised Indian university or equivalent institution.
  • Minimum 5–10 years of experience in detail engineering within EPC or consulting firms, preferably in oil and gas, refinery, or process plant projects.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD, PDMS/E3D, SmartPlant, or equivalent 3D modelling and drafting tools.
  • Strong working knowledge of Indian and international engineering codes and standards including ASME, IS, TEMA, API, and IEC.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple deliverables simultaneously while maintaining accuracy and meeting project milestones.
  • Excellent communication and coordination skills with the ability to liaise effectively with clients, vendors, and multi-discipline project teams.
  • Experience working on lump-sum turnkey (LSTK) or EPC projects is strongly preferred.

Benefits

  • Competitive CTC package benchmarked against industry standards with performance-linked incentives.
  • Opportunities for professional development and certification support including chartership and technical training programmes.
  • Exposure to prestigious domestic and international projects with potential for overseas deputation and travel allowances.
  • Health insurance coverage for self and family, including group mediclaim and accidental insurance benefits.
  • Structured career progression framework with regular performance reviews and promotion pathways into senior and lead engineering roles.
