Detail Engineering – Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Detail Engineering professional to join our growing engineering team. In this role, you will be responsible for translating conceptual and basic engineering designs into comprehensive, construction-ready documentation and technical packages. You will work closely with multidisciplinary teams across civil, mechanical, piping, electrical, and instrumentation disciplines to ensure that all detailed engineering deliverables meet project specifications, industry codes, and client requirements.

This position plays a critical role in the successful execution of large-scale projects across sectors such as oil and gas, petrochemicals, power, infrastructure, and manufacturing. The ideal candidate will bring deep technical expertise, strong attention to detail, and a thorough understanding of Indian and international engineering standards. You will be expected to manage deliverables within defined timelines, coordinate with procurement and construction teams, and ensure zero-defect documentation for seamless site execution.

Based out of our India office, you will collaborate with both domestic and global project teams, contributing to projects that shape critical industrial infrastructure across the country and beyond. Key Responsibilities

• Prepare and review detailed engineering drawings including P&IDs, general arrangement drawings, isometrics, single-line diagrams, and equipment layout plans.
• Develop and maintain engineering deliverable registers, ensuring timely submission of all documents as per the project schedule and milestone requirements.
• Perform material take-offs (MTO) and support procurement teams with technical specifications, datasheets, and vendor document reviews.
• Ensure all designs comply with applicable Indian standards (IS, IBR, PESO) as well as international codes such as ASME, API, IEC, and ISO.
• Coordinate with cross-functional engineering disciplines to resolve design clashes, incorporate interdisciplinary comments, and maintain design integrity throughout the project lifecycle.
• Support 3D modelling activities using tools such as PDMS, E3D, or SP3D, and conduct model reviews to validate constructability and operability.
• Review and respond to site queries, RFIs, and construction clarifications in a timely manner to avoid delays in project execution.
• Participate in HAZOP, design review, and constructability review meetings, incorporating outcomes into final engineering packages.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Chemical, Civil, or Electrical Engineering from a recognised Indian university or institute.
• Minimum 5–12 years of experience in detail engineering roles within EPC or consultancy environments.
• Proficiency in engineering design software such as AutoCAD, PDMS/E3D, Caesar II, STAAD.Pro, or equivalent tools relevant to your discipline.
• Strong working knowledge of Indian and international engineering codes and standards applicable to your area of specialisation.
• Demonstrated ability to manage multiple deliverables simultaneously while maintaining accuracy and quality under tight deadlines.
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to coordinate effectively across multidisciplinary and multicultural project teams.
• Prior experience working on oil and gas, refinery, or large industrial infrastructure projects is highly preferred.
