Detail Engineering

About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Detail Engineering Specialist to join our growing engineering team based in India. This role is central to the successful execution of engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) projects across industries such as oil and gas, petrochemicals, power, and infrastructure. The ideal candidate will be responsible for translating conceptual and basic engineering designs into comprehensive, construction-ready documentation and drawings. You will collaborate closely with multidisciplinary teams including process, piping, civil, electrical, and instrumentation engineers to deliver technically sound and cost-effective engineering solutions. Key Responsibilities

• Develop and review detailed engineering drawings, specifications, and documents including piping and instrumentation diagrams (P&IDs), general arrangement drawings, isometrics, and equipment layouts in compliance with project and industry standards.
• Coordinate with discipline leads and cross-functional engineering teams to ensure seamless integration of all engineering deliverables within defined project timelines and budgets.
• Perform engineering calculations and technical studies to validate design integrity, material selection, and compliance with applicable codes such as ASME, IS, IBR, and international standards.
• Prepare and review material take-offs (MTOs), bill of materials (BOMs), and technical requisitions to support the procurement process and vendor document review activities.
• Participate in design reviews, HAZOP studies, and inter-discipline check (IDC) processes to identify and resolve technical issues at early project stages.
• Ensure all engineering outputs adhere to client specifications, statutory regulations, and quality management system (QMS) requirements throughout the project lifecycle.
• Manage and mentor junior engineers and drafting personnel, providing technical guidance and reviewing their deliverables to maintain high-quality standards across the team.
• Liaise with clients, contractors, and vendors during engineering phases to address technical queries, manage change requests, and ensure alignment with project objectives.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree or higher in Mechanical, Chemical, Civil, or a related engineering discipline from a recognized Indian or international university.
• Minimum of 5 to 10 years of hands-on experience in detail engineering within EPC or consultancy environments, preferably in oil and gas, refinery, or process plant projects.
• Proficiency in engineering design software such as AutoCAD, PDMS, E3D, Caesar II, or equivalent tools relevant to the specific discipline.
• Strong working knowledge of Indian and international engineering codes, standards, and statutory requirements including IS, ASME, API, and IEC.
• Demonstrated ability to manage multiple deliverables simultaneously, prioritize tasks effectively, and meet tight project deadlines without compromising quality.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work collaboratively in a multicultural, multidisciplinary team environment.
• Experience with document control systems and project management tools such as Aconex, Primavera, or MS Project is considered an advantage.
