Detail Engineering

About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Detail Engineering Specialist to join our dynamic engineering team based in India. In this critical role, you will be responsible for transforming conceptual and basic engineering designs into comprehensive, construction-ready documentation and technical packages. You will work closely with cross-functional teams including process engineers, project managers, and procurement specialists to ensure that all engineering deliverables meet the highest standards of quality, safety, and compliance. This position is ideal for a motivated professional with a strong technical background in engineering disciplines relevant to oil and gas, petrochemical, power, or infrastructure sectors.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and review detailed engineering documents including Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs), general arrangement drawings, isometric drawings, and equipment layout plans in accordance with project specifications and international standards.
• Prepare and validate Material Take-Offs (MTOs), bill of materials, and technical datasheets to support procurement and construction activities.
• Coordinate with discipline leads across civil, structural, mechanical, electrical, and instrumentation teams to ensure seamless integration of all engineering deliverables.
• Conduct thorough design reviews and technical audits to identify discrepancies, resolve clashes, and ensure compliance with applicable codes such as ASME, IS standards, and client-specific requirements.
• Utilize engineering design software including AutoCAD, PDMS, SP3D, or equivalent tools to produce accurate and detailed technical drawings and models.
• Manage and maintain the engineering document control system, ensuring timely submission, revision tracking, and proper archiving of all project documentation.
• Support the preparation of vendor document review, technical bid evaluations, and engineering queries to ensure alignment with project design intent.
• Participate actively in HAZOP studies, constructability reviews, and inter-discipline checks to uphold project safety and operational integrity throughout the design lifecycle.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Chemical, Civil, or related Engineering discipline from a recognized university; a Master's degree is an added advantage.
• Minimum 5 to 10 years of hands-on experience in detail engineering within EPC or consultancy environments, preferably in the oil and gas, refinery, or petrochemical sectors.
• Proficiency in industry-standard design tools such as AutoCAD, AVEVA E3D, SmartPlant 3D, or Navisworks along with strong knowledge of engineering codes and standards.
• Demonstrated ability to manage multiple deliverables simultaneously under tight project timelines while maintaining accuracy and quality.
• Strong understanding of project execution methodologies, including FEED, BDEP, and EPC project phases, with experience in multi-disciplinary coordination.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English, with the ability to prepare technical reports and present findings to senior stakeholders.
• Familiarity with Indian statutory regulations, PESO guidelines, and relevant international standards applicable to engineering design and construction.
