About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Detail Engineering Specialist to join our growing engineering team based in India. This role is critical to the successful execution of large-scale industrial, oil and gas, chemical, or infrastructure projects. The ideal candidate will be responsible for translating conceptual and basic engineering designs into comprehensive, construction-ready documentation and technical deliverables. You will collaborate closely with multidisciplinary teams including process, mechanical, electrical, instrumentation, and civil engineers to ensure that all detailed engineering outputs meet the highest standards of quality, safety, and compliance with Indian and international regulatory frameworks.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and review detailed engineering drawings, specifications, datasheets, and technical documents including P&IDs, general arrangement drawings, isometrics, and equipment layouts in accordance with project requirements and applicable codes.
• Coordinate with Basic Engineering and Front-End Engineering Design (FEED) teams to ensure seamless transition and accurate interpretation of design intent into detailed construction packages.
• Perform engineering calculations, material take-offs (MTOs), and technical evaluations to support procurement, fabrication, and construction activities on-site.
• Ensure all detail engineering work complies with relevant Indian standards such as IS, BIS, and international codes including ASME, API, IEC, and ISO, as well as client-specific engineering standards and statutory regulations.
• Liaise with vendors, contractors, and third-party inspection agencies to review and approve vendor drawings, technical submittals, and engineering queries in a timely manner.
• Participate in design reviews, HAZOP studies, model reviews, and inter-discipline check (IDC) processes to identify and resolve technical conflicts or clashes early in the project lifecycle.
• Monitor and control engineering progress against project schedules, identifying risks and implementing corrective measures to ensure on-time delivery of all technical deliverables.
• Mentor and provide technical guidance to junior engineers and designers, fostering a culture of continuous learning and engineering excellence within the team.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Chemical, Civil, Electrical, or related discipline) from a recognized university; a Master's degree or relevant certifications will be an added advantage.
• Minimum 6 to 12 years of hands-on experience in detail engineering for EPC or EPCM projects within the oil and gas, petrochemical, power, or heavy industrial sectors in India or internationally.
• Proficiency in engineering design software such as AutoCAD, PDMS, E3D, SmartPlant, or equivalent tools relevant to the discipline.
• Strong working knowledge of applicable Indian and international engineering codes, standards, and statutory requirements including PESO, IBR, CPCB, and factory regulations.
• Demonstrated ability to manage multiple engineering deliverables simultaneously under tight deadlines while maintaining high-quality output.
• Excellent communication, coordination, and stakeholder management skills with the ability to work effectively in a multicultural, multidisciplinary project environment.
• Experience working with document management systems and engineering workflows within large-scale project environments is highly desirable.
