Detail Engineering

About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Detail Engineering Specialist to join our growing engineering team based in India. This role is central to the successful execution of engineering projects across industries including oil and gas, petrochemicals, power, and infrastructure. The ideal candidate will be responsible for translating conceptual and basic engineering designs into comprehensive, construction-ready documentation and technical deliverables. You will work closely with multidisciplinary teams, clients, and contractors to ensure that all engineering outputs meet the highest standards of quality, safety, and regulatory compliance. Key Responsibilities

• Develop and review detailed engineering drawings, specifications, and technical documents including P&IDs, equipment layouts, piping isometrics, civil and structural drawings, and electrical schematics.
• Coordinate with process, mechanical, civil, electrical, and instrumentation disciplines to ensure seamless integration of all engineering deliverables.
• Prepare and validate material take-offs (MTOs), bill of materials, and procurement support documentation to facilitate timely sourcing and purchasing activities.
• Ensure all detail engineering work complies with applicable Indian and international standards such as IS, ASME, API, IEC, and IBR codes and regulations.
• Conduct design reviews, hazard identification studies, and technical audits to identify and resolve engineering issues at the earliest possible stage of the project lifecycle.
• Manage and maintain engineering document control systems, ensuring version accuracy, traceability, and timely distribution of all project documentation.
• Liaise with vendors, subcontractors, and third-party inspection agencies to review and approve vendor drawings and technical submittals.
• Support construction and commissioning teams by providing technical clarifications, site queries resolution, and as-built documentation updates.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Chemical, Civil, Electrical, or Instrumentation Engineering from a recognized university; a postgraduate qualification is an added advantage.
• Minimum of 5 to 10 years of hands-on experience in detail engineering within EPC or EPCM project environments in India or internationally.
• Proficiency in industry-standard engineering software such as AutoCAD, PDMS, E3D, CAESAR II, STAAD.Pro, or equivalent tools relevant to your discipline.
• Strong understanding of Indian statutory requirements, including PESO, CPCB, CEA, and IBR approvals and compliance frameworks.
• Demonstrated ability to manage multiple deliverables simultaneously while adhering to strict project timelines and budget constraints.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to effectively collaborate across multidisciplinary teams and present technical information to stakeholders.
• Experience working on projects in sectors such as oil and gas, refinery, fertilizer, power generation, or water treatment is highly desirable.
