About the Role

We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Contracts Manager to join our dynamic legal and commercial team in India. In this pivotal role, you will be responsible for overseeing the full lifecycle of contracts across the organization, ensuring that all agreements are legally sound, commercially viable, and aligned with company objectives. You will collaborate closely with internal stakeholders including legal, finance, procurement, and senior leadership, as well as engage with external clients, vendors, and partners. The ideal candidate brings a strong understanding of Indian contract law, exceptional negotiation skills, and a proven track record of managing complex contractual arrangements across multiple business functions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Draft, review, and negotiate a wide range of contracts including vendor agreements, service contracts, non-disclosure agreements, partnership agreements, and client Master Service Agreements (MSAs) in compliance with Indian contract law and company policies.
  • Manage the end-to-end contract lifecycle from initiation and drafting through execution, renewal, and termination, maintaining an organized and up-to-date contract repository.
  • Identify and assess contractual risks, flag potential legal and commercial issues, and recommend appropriate mitigation strategies to senior management and relevant stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with procurement, finance, and business development teams to ensure contract terms align with organizational goals, budgets, and regulatory requirements.
  • Monitor contract performance and compliance, ensuring all parties fulfill their contractual obligations and escalating disputes or non-compliance issues in a timely manner.
  • Develop and implement standardized contract templates, processes, and best practices to improve efficiency and reduce turnaround times across the organization.
  • Liaise with external legal counsel when required and support dispute resolution processes, including negotiations, mediations, or arbitration proceedings.
  • Stay current with changes in Indian legislation, regulatory frameworks, and industry standards that may impact contractual obligations and company operations.

Requirements

  • Educational Qualification: Bachelor's degree in Law (LLB) from a recognized Indian university; a Master's degree (LLM) or MBA with a legal specialization is strongly preferred.
  • Experience: Minimum of 5 to 8 years of relevant experience in contract management, commercial law, or a related legal function within a corporate or consulting environment in India.
  • Strong working knowledge of the Indian Contract Act, 1872, and related commercial legislation including the Sale of Goods Act, Information Technology Act, and GST implications on contracts.
  • Demonstrated ability to negotiate and finalize high-value contracts with confidence, clarity, and a commercially focused mindset.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English, with the ability to translate complex legal language into clear, actionable business terms for non-legal stakeholders.
  • Proficiency in contract management software, Microsoft Office Suite, and document management systems.
  • Strong organizational and analytical skills with the ability to manage multiple contracts and competing priorities simultaneously under tight deadlines.

Benefits

  • Competitive Compensation: Attractive salary package benchmarked against industry standards, with performance-based annual bonuses.
  • Health and Wellness: Comprehensive medical insurance coverage for employees and their immediate family members, including hospitalization and preventive care benefits.
  • Professional Development: Access to continuous learning programs, legal certifications, industry conferences, and sponsored training to support your career growth.
  • Work-Life Balance: Flexible working arrangements including hybrid work options, generous paid leave, and observed national holidays.
  • Retirement Benefits: Provident Fund contributions and Gratuity as per statutory requirements, along with additional long-term financial planning support.
