About the Role
We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Contracts Manager to join our growing team in India. In this critical role, you will be responsible for overseeing the full lifecycle of contracts across the organization, ensuring legal compliance, mitigating risk, and supporting business objectives through effective contract management. You will collaborate closely with legal, finance, procurement, and senior leadership teams to draft, negotiate, and administer a wide range of commercial agreements. The ideal candidate brings a strong understanding of Indian contract law, excellent negotiation skills, and a proven ability to manage complex contractual relationships in a fast-paced corporate environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Draft, review, and negotiate a broad range of contracts including vendor agreements, client contracts, service agreements, NDAs, and partnership agreements in compliance with applicable Indian laws and regulations.
- Manage the end-to-end contract lifecycle, from initial request and drafting through execution, renewal, and termination, maintaining an organized and up-to-date contract repository.
- Identify and assess contractual risks, recommending appropriate mitigation strategies and escalating critical issues to senior management and legal counsel as required.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders including procurement, finance, sales, and operations teams to ensure contract terms align with business requirements and organizational policies.
- Monitor contract performance and compliance, tracking key milestones, deliverables, and obligations to ensure all parties fulfill their contractual commitments on time.
- Lead contract negotiations with external vendors, clients, and partners, working to achieve favorable terms while maintaining strong and productive business relationships.
- Develop and implement standardized contract templates, processes, and best practices to improve efficiency and consistency across the organization.
- Provide guidance and training to internal teams on contract-related matters, policies, and procedures to promote awareness and compliance throughout the business.
Requirements
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Law (LLB), Business Administration, or a related field; a postgraduate qualification or LLM is highly desirable.
- Experience: Minimum of 5–8 years of demonstrated experience in contracts management, commercial law, or a related legal function within a corporate or consulting environment in India.
- Strong working knowledge of the Indian Contract Act, 1872, and other relevant commercial and corporate legislation governing business agreements.
- Exceptional negotiation, drafting, and analytical skills with a keen eye for detail and the ability to interpret complex legal and commercial language accurately.
- Proficiency in contract management software and tools, along with strong command of Microsoft Office Suite including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage effectively with stakeholders at all levels including senior executives and external legal teams.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple contracts and priorities simultaneously, meeting tight deadlines while maintaining a high standard of accuracy and professionalism.
