About the Role

We are looking for a dynamic and analytical Category Management Professional to join our growing team in India. In this role, you will be responsible for driving strategic growth across assigned product categories, optimizing assortment planning, and building strong vendor partnerships. You will work at the intersection of data, strategy, and execution — collaborating closely with procurement, marketing, supply chain, and sales teams to maximize category performance and deliver exceptional value to our customers. This is an exciting opportunity for a results-driven individual who thrives in a fast-paced, competitive retail or e-commerce environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute comprehensive category strategies aligned with overall business objectives, including pricing, assortment, placement, and promotional planning.
  • Conduct in-depth market research and competitive analysis to identify emerging trends, consumer preferences, and growth opportunities within assigned categories.
  • Manage and strengthen vendor and supplier relationships, negotiating contracts, pricing terms, and service level agreements to ensure optimal commercial outcomes.
  • Analyze sales data, consumer insights, and category performance metrics to generate actionable recommendations and drive continuous improvement.
  • Collaborate with the merchandising and supply chain teams to ensure optimal inventory levels, reduce stockouts, and minimize excess inventory across all channels.
  • Lead joint business planning sessions with key brand partners and suppliers to align on mutual growth targets and co-investment opportunities.
  • Develop and present category reviews and performance reports to senior leadership, highlighting key wins, challenges, and forward-looking strategies.
  • Drive new product launches and range rationalization initiatives by evaluating product performance, customer feedback, and market demand signals.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Marketing, Supply Chain Management, or a related field; MBA preferred from a recognized institution.
  • Minimum 3–6 years of experience in category management, trade marketing, buying, or a closely related function within retail, FMCG, or e-commerce industries.
  • Strong proficiency in data analysis tools such as MS Excel, Power BI, or similar platforms, with the ability to translate complex data into clear business insights.
  • Proven track record of vendor negotiation and relationship management, with demonstrated ability to deliver cost savings and commercial value.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and stakeholder management skills, with experience engaging cross-functional teams and senior leadership.
  • Deep understanding of the Indian retail landscape, consumer behavior, and market dynamics across modern trade, general trade, or digital commerce channels.
  • Strong project management and organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple categories and priorities simultaneously under tight deadlines.

Benefits

  • Competitive compensation package including performance-linked bonuses and annual increments benchmarked to industry standards.
  • Comprehensive health and wellness benefits covering medical, dental, and vision insurance for employees and their immediate family members.
  • Significant opportunities for career growth and professional development, including access to training programs, leadership workshops, and mentorship initiatives.
  • Flexible work arrangements including hybrid work options designed to support work-life balance and employee well-being.
  • Collaborative and inclusive workplace culture that values diversity, innovation, and the contribution of every team member toward shared organizational success.
