About the Role

We are seeking a highly experienced and results-driven Assistant General Manager (Contract) to join our leadership team on a fixed-term contractual basis. This role is designed for a seasoned professional who can seamlessly integrate into our operations, drive strategic initiatives, and deliver measurable outcomes within a defined engagement period. The ideal candidate will bring a strong track record of managing cross-functional teams, optimizing business processes, and supporting senior leadership in achieving organizational goals across our India operations.

As the Assistant General Manager (Contract), you will work directly under the General Manager and play a pivotal role in overseeing day-to-day business activities, managing key stakeholder relationships, and ensuring operational excellence. This is a high-impact position that demands both strategic thinking and hands-on execution, making it ideal for professionals who thrive in fast-paced, target-oriented environments.

This contractual engagement offers an excellent opportunity for senior professionals seeking a challenging short-to-medium-term leadership role within a dynamic and growing organization. The position is based in India and may require travel to regional offices and client locations as business needs demand.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the General Manager in developing and executing business strategies, operational plans, and departmental budgets aligned with organizational objectives.
  • Oversee daily operational functions across assigned business units, ensuring adherence to company policies, quality standards, and compliance requirements.
  • Lead, mentor, and manage cross-functional teams to drive performance, accountability, and professional development across departments.
  • Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs), prepare detailed management reports, and present data-driven insights to senior leadership for informed decision-making.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, vendors, government bodies, and other external stakeholders to support business continuity and growth.
  • Identify operational inefficiencies and implement process improvement initiatives to enhance productivity, reduce costs, and improve service delivery.
  • Manage contractual obligations, vendor negotiations, and procurement activities in coordination with the legal and finance teams.
  • Ensure full compliance with Indian labour laws, statutory regulations, and corporate governance standards throughout the contract period.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Management, or a related field; MBA from a recognized Indian or international institution is strongly preferred.
  • Minimum 10–15 years of progressive experience in operations, business management, or a related leadership role within a reputed organization.
  • Demonstrated experience in managing large teams and multi-location operations across India.
  • Strong understanding of Indian regulatory frameworks, including GST, labour laws, and corporate compliance requirements.
  • Exceptional communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills with the ability to influence at all organizational levels.
  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite, ERP systems, and business intelligence tools; prior experience with SAP or Oracle is an advantage.
  • Willingness to commit to a fixed-term contract of 12–24 months with the possibility of extension or permanent absorption based on performance.

Benefits

  • Competitive contractual remuneration commensurate with experience and industry benchmarks, including performance-linked incentives.
  • Comprehensive health insurance coverage for the employee and immediate family members during the contract tenure.
  • Access to professional development programmes, leadership workshops, and industry networking opportunities.
  • Flexible working arrangements and travel allowances as applicable to the role and business requirements.
  • Potential for contract renewal or conversion to a permanent leadership position based on demonstrated performance and organizational requirements.
